Faux Pas

Fashion. Travel. Food. Bridget. Gin.

This morning I woke up with a severe case of wanderlust.  My body doesn't allow me to have a lie in on a weekend, but in the weekday's I can sleep for England.  What is that about? So, I woke up at 7am with itchy feet and big dreams of my future adventures.  I spent my morning how I spend the first few minutes of most mornings... Lusting over Jay Alverrez and Alexis Ren's Instagram pages.  They are basically two absolutely beautiful human beings, who travel the world being all in love and filming it all as they have the most epic adventures in countless countries.

Living my dream.

Check them out...

I want everything in this video. The adventure. The sunshine. The locations. The music. And her bod/face.

Life's not fair, Zazu.

So, this morning got me overly excited for my future adventures and got me looking back at my past explorations. Bring on the Maldives Jan 2016. I'm going to make my friend Charlotte recreate the above video and we are going to become the new Jay and Alexis. GAME ON.

I have lots of exciting adventures in the pipeline and I can't wait to make them reality. 2016, you will be my year.

Being an ex-Londoner means I regularly pine after London life, and the excitement the city brings.  I'm often in London for work which gives me a chance to run riot for an evening in my past stomping ground.  Last Tuesday one of my favourite bitches, Amy, was also being a business woman in London; so after work we decided to catch up over dinner and cocktails.

One of the main things I miss about London, is heading to a different bar every night to catch up with a different friend.  Although that did mean constant bankruptcy and a constant minor hangover.  Some things never change.

We decided to check out Sketch in Mayfair which has had rave reviews.  After a couple of overpriced but delicious cocktails in a swanky hotel bar, we headed over for our two hour slot in The Gallery, which is a barbie candy floss dream world. Pink basically. Very, very pink.

As you walk in through the entrance, so many interesting things draw you in.  Firstly there's a hopscotch drawn on the floor which you obviously have to go on. Be a child. Live a little.  As you walk further in and down the stairs to the Gallery, you pass the entrance to the two Michelin starred restaurants upstairs.  This stairway is covered in red paint to make it look like a gruesome murder scene.  Very cool!
On the right hand side as you walk through the restaurant door is a ceiling to floor vending machine which sells the crockery used in Sketch, designed by David Shrigley. Again, very cool.

We were the first ones in that evening and were welcomed by a beautiful man who led us to our pink table of dreams.  After a couple of cocktails we managed to decide from the delicious options on the menu, ordered a bottle of red and settled down to chat the night away.
Amy has been one of my best friends since college and we have got ourselves into many hilarious and awkward situations in our time.  Every time we meet up, we spend the whole time laughing until our faces hurt, reminiscing about all of the trouble we've caused.  She also loves travel, so we sit telling stories and giggling over countless glasses of red for hours on end.

Our first course came out which made me dribble just looking at it.  Myself and Amy both went for a dish called 'Chantilly Lace: black rice, basmati rice, lobster bisque, red pepper and horseradish cream' NEED I SAY MORE. It was one of the tastiest things I've ever put in my mouth and we couldn't even talk it was so divine. Lobster is up there on my list of life favourites and it did not dissapoint.

Main course came and was just as delightful.  I went for crispy hake with Cornish mussel velouté, tarragon, barlotti beans and heirloom tomatoes. Again, GOOD GOD IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I used a spoon to ensure all sauce was in my face and I didn't leave a drop.  Amy decided on oregano scented, salt-marsh Yorkshire lamb with aubergine caviar and black olive.  We were both so wrapped up in a love affair with our own choices so I'm not sure I even asked how Amy's was, but it looked bloody splendid.

After we were full, content and a little tipsy we took it in turns to check out the toilets (I could live in them).  You walk up some shiny white stairs which are glowing with pink lights, into a room full of white pods.  Inside, they make different noises as if you are in a spaceship or in a rainforest. Incredible. And a wonderful excuse to take the classic Sketch selfie.

Our two hours were nearly up so we had just enough time to wolf down some macarons, finish our wine and decide if we should ask for the beautiful man who welcomed us in's number. We didn't. Damn.

I highly recommend Sketch, for the toilets alone really.  It was an evening of superb food, wonderful wine and such beautiful company.  What more does a girl need?
One crop top three ways. A crop top threesome if you will.

1- Boohoo crop top, Asos jeans, Asos heels and River Island belt.

2- Boohoo crop top, duster coat, heels, bag and Topsop jeans

3- Asos jeans, heels, blazer, River Island belt and Boohoo crop top.

Once a year my gorgeous hometown hosts a beautiful beachside festival called Victorious. It always falls over the bank holiday weekend meaning we have to drink gin for 48 hours. What a shame, hey? It gets bigger and better every year and it's a perfect place to bump into old faces and catch up with long lost friends over some tunes and copious amounts of cider.

This year didn't dissapoint. Myself and Hember threw ourselves in and survived both days (it was touch and go). We had a couple of hours moaning over breakfast on Sunday morning but the alcohol soon topped itself up and we were back on form, causing all kinds of trouble as per usual. We found a stag do, which seems to happen EVERY time we go out. It's now tradition.

In true British style, it decided to absolutely shit it down on the Saturday which resulted in see through tshirts and people falling over in the mud. No one gave a shit and we all danced and drank together in a giant, muddy field and looked like we'd all showered together fully clothed. I developed an afro. It was beautiful.

Bring on next year. Let's see if you can top Basement Jaxx... It'll be tough, Victorious.

Day 1: Clarks boots (RIP), Topshop shorts, Boohoo croptop, Zara cardigan.

Day 2: Topshop shorts, Zara shirt, Saturday induced hangover.
Having soaked up the sun for a couple of weeks, I have a couple more weeks to show off my tan before it fades. This means getting out as much flesh as possible which is what I did the first weekend I got home.

Here is me being bronzed and quite frankly; a bit slutty.

Boots: public desire. Dress: Tesco

Shorts: Asos. Top: Missguided. Shoes: Boohoo. Belt: River Island

Outfit: Same as above + Zara blazer

I want to be tanned forever. There's only one thing for it. I'm moving to Australia. Bye now.

I have managed to survive two whole weeks back in the real world. It's been tough. I get the post travelling blues really bad and it doesn't help that for the past two years, Sarah has carried on travelling for three more weeks after I get home. Daydreaming of her adventures whilst trying to throw myself back into being a working professional is never good for my emotions.

Sarah headed to Cuba on the day I headed back to London and there is no internet there, so I've not just had to cope with three weeks worth of travel envy; I also haven't been able to speak to my best friend for three weeks! Texts cost a fortune and Whatsapp is out of action until she gets to a wifi spot. I'm sure she's loving not being contactable, but I need to send her random messages about the weird pigeon I just saw or how I've got a pain in my little finger and I think I'm dying. Now I've got to keep this information to myself and it is less than ideal.

For the brief moments I have stopped crying and having a strop, I put together our annual travel video. This was my first adventure with the GoPro and I think it might just be my favourite thing I have ever owned. I want to have it constantly strapped to my head to capture all random moments in life, because it is awesome. I did however film some clips when we had a big night out in Buenos Aires and I had to turn it off because drunk me is probably the most annoying person I've ever come across. I even considered stopping drinking after I watched it. But then I realised I didn't give a shit and poured myself a gin.

My new found friend C.C who we met in Buenos Aires introduced me to a word the other day that quite possibly might be my new favourite word. It sums up my feelings perfectly and it's probably my main emotion 99.99% of the time:

Saudade - (n.) a nostalgic longing to be near again to something or someone that is distant, or that has been loved and then lost; "the love that remains"

Now that is just beautiful. I think it might be time to book the next adventure you know.
