GAME ON: Sports Luxe Style
By Emma Wood

With the Olympics only weeks away, last weeks Wimbledon final keeping us on the edge of our seats and for the lads out there, the Euros. Sports fever is unavoidable in 2012. The fashion world is no exception, from Marc Jacobs to Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham, the SS/12 catwalks are jam packed with sporty influences to bring out our competitive sides.

Chanel God, Karl Lagerfeld is getting into the spirit by launching a pop up store housing an Olympic themed womenswear collection in Selfridges on the 24th July. Named Team Karl, it will feature accessories and apparel to get the fashion world decked out in designer just in time for the games to begin. AND, Mr Lagerfeld is holding a private cocktail party to celebrate the launch. How do we get an invite? Cocktails and Karl... GO TEAM KARL!

Another brand getting involved is New York based label, Opening Ceremony, who have teamed up with Adidas Originals to bring out an Olympic themed collection in celebration of 2012. Opening in Covent Garden at a pop up store, this super stylish collection adds the seasons sports luxe twist to its normally urban and youthful look. Adding peplums to plain t-shirts and incorporating bold prints into their designs appeals to people who would not normally buy sports themed collections. Bravo Opening Ceremony. Fitting brand name too. Very clever.

Whilst every shop under the sun has embraced the sporty vibe, to avoid looking like you're off to the gym when you're actually heading to a bar, go for a statement piece such as a bright sporty clutch teamed with an LBD for ultimate sporty chic or purchase some high heeled trainers to team with skinny jeans and a loose fitted t-shirt. Sporty can be feminine you see! If you're looking to buy just one key item for this season, head over to Alexander Wang for some sexy heels. Using mesh and vibrant colours, he has made the sport trend wearable for everyone. What a man.

If you're not sold by this trend and will not be layering up those luminous cycling shorts, what better excuse do we need to whop on a Union Jack dress and channel our inner Geri Halliwell... SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!
So, this blog has been well and truly abandoned. I feel like a terrible owner. However, I have valid reasons and they are that I write for a couple of online magazines, I've been working and also getting prepared for my BIRTHDAAAYYY (this is a recent reason for abandonment).

I have decided to use this blog as an online portfolio and will link to my articles in various places as well as posting new posts on here.
I've not been keeping this blog up to date lately but I have a valid reason. Head over to http://2b-scene.com/ as I write for them every week now. Excellente!
Its been two months and 4 days since my last blog post. SLACKER! I have however been terribly busy in the last few months, writing articles on fetish clubs, dissertations on feminism in the punk scene and battling through a research project on mass marketed fashion and lifestyle shopping. Intense! So, I am now free. Some may say a bum. Waiting for my final results in hope that I have successfully completed a degree. If I haven't then I'm unsure what to do with my life... exxxxcellent.

Anyway, I have found a new want. It may be £495 but you cannot put a price on beauty. I absolutely love anything personalised as it means so much more than owning a piece that other people have too. Having something meaningful adds a unique element and is just super special! So, I have discovered the Anya Hindmarch Bespoke Edbury Collection and am craving the purse. You can also buy handbags and clutches, but they are up to £4995, so I'm being realistic and although £495 for a purse may be ridiculous, it is also possible that at one point in my life I may actually be able to own one.

You can add drawings, your own handwriting, your name and any meaningful phrase if it is a gift for yourself or if you're treating someone (lucky thing). Even if they didn't have the customising option they are b-e-a-utiful as they have a section labelled for your 'bits and bobs' a section which says 'penny for luck' and 'stamps'. I looooove these cute little details immensely!

Check them out here and join the waiting list... I may start saving the pennies. Need a piggy bank.

GORGEOUS!
