Since I last posted on my once again completely abandoned blog, some major excitement has occurred. Not only did I have the dream holiday with one of my best friends to the Maldives, but I also made the utterly petrifying decision to try and start a new chapter living in Australia!
So, as I write this I am sat in my cute little house on Bondi Beach and am feeling pretty damn smug with myself actually.
It all happened pretty quickly and the last few months have been mad, but it's the best decision I've made in a long time. I'm a happy bean and am on a mission to hunt down my Bondi Lifeguard husband whilst drinking Sydney's whole supply of gin.
Since I came to Australia with my best friend 8 years ago, I've always wanted to give living here a go whilst I could still get my Working Holiday Visa. I'm getting old, fast, so thought 26 was a good age to give Sydney a bash.
On my post-Christmas escape in the Maldives with Charlotte, I decided 2016 was the year to leave, and a month later, I was on the plane flying half way around the world.
I didn't have a plan at all really and didn't know how long I would be away for or when I'd go home. I thought I could arrive and really not enjoy myself and be home within 2 months, or I could stay for my 2 years and see what happens. It was the scariest and most exciting decision I've made.
Having a really, really close knit group of friends at home made it super difficult as I didn't want to say bye for a year and be forgotten. Also being really close with my mum made it doubly as hard, but walking through departures at Heathrow was the most invigorating feeling ever. I did have a little cry over a bottle of champers, but I had to show some emotion ya know!
I had a smashing couple of leaving events and got showered in love and well wishes by my favourite people in the world, before being let loose on my own to try and survive. So far I am surviving. Great news.
I landed in Melbourne and Jacky G picked me up at the airport to begin my adventure. Fresh off the plane, we went for breakfast and caught up and got terribly excited. After an epic nap, we decided the best idea was to check out Chin Chin for some deeeelicious nosh and ended up getting royally smashed in true Brits abroad stylee. Woke up with a major hangover and minor jet leg. Great combination.
Melbourne flew by and a week of catching up, sightseeing, eating, drinking and napping was over too quickly and I hopped on my plane to meet Jamie in Sydney and start setting up my new life!
As soon as I met J at the airport, I felt like Sydney was the place for me. We caught up, reminisced about our old London life and drank champagne whilst looking over Bondi Beach. Life is better in Sydney than Streatham.
I've been in Australia for 3 months now and I've got myself a swish job, a beautiful beach side lad pad and some fabulous friends. If I could transport all of my family and friends from home to Bondi, life would be pretty perfect right now.
Having soaked up the sun for a couple of weeks, I have a couple more weeks to show off my tan before it fades. This means getting out as much flesh as possible which is what I did the first weekend I got home.
Here is me being bronzed and quite frankly; a bit slutty.
I have a bit of a shopping problem. It's no secret that I am a bit of an addict. I always have to hide my purchases from my friend Sophie, as she tells me off constantly. However, I'm also a massive bargain hunter and I have outdone myself with one specific buy. The below lip print shirt cost me a whole £4 including delivery. Now I would have been STUPID not to buy it, wouldn't I?! It took about 3 weeks to arrive, but for £4 you can't complain.
My eyelash hem skirt is also a bargain from Matalan and the shoes from Missguided, so this whole outfit is a winner that even Sophie can't tell me off for buying!
Yes, that is a bit of Taylor Swift. Minx.
It's Sunday and I plan on staying in bed all day. I shall only move to eat leftover pizza and rescue Ben and Jerry from the freezer.
Here are a few of my favourite outfits of late.
Playsuit from Missguided, black and white dress from Topshop, thigh highs from Public Desire, pink jacket and white heels from ASOS.
Dress from Missguided, duster jacket from New Look and thigh highs from Public Desire.
Jeans from ASOS, white jumper and white blazer from Zara, necklace from Accessorize and gold ring from Flash Trash.
I have a shopping problem.
So for Christmas I bought myself a wonderful little treat in the form of the Olympus Pen Lite and I needed a new home to keep him cosy. This is where my ebay skills came in to play, and I scouted out this Anya Hindmarch beaut for less than half price.
I've wanted Anya goodies for years and now I feel an addiction coming on. Her labelled collection is my super organised dream!
It's Boxing Day and I'm already mourning Christmas. It's emotional. I've had a beautiful Christmas with lots of food and champagne and I'm now trying to finish all of the leftovers before my January detox begins. I got myself a new toy in the shape on an Olympus Pen Lite and here's some snaps I took of the festive antics. My brother and I bought our mum a tortoise for Christmas, so here's introducing Meat Pie to the family.
It's Friday morning and I'm still in bed drinking tea. I love 3 day weekends! I'm lucky enough to be going to the Ritz for lunch this afternoon (so glam) but wanted to post a quick style snapshot of a favourite winter outfit. All thanks to River Island, this is super warm and cute.
There's nothing I love more than getting glammed up and drinking champagne all night and lucky for me, November will not disappoint. Firstly, I am going for lunch at The Ritz so I can pretend to be sophisticated whilst quaffing expensive champagne and eating lobster. Delicious.
The following weekend, I am going to a medicine ball! It's been so long since I've been to a proper black tie event so a new dress was in order. I headed out for mimosas and breakfast to fuel up before hunting down the perfect ball gown and found the one in the most unlikely of places... Hobbs. It is a wonderful fitted black number with a swishy fishtail bottom. All I need now is some diamonds.
Bring on the champagne and the doctors. Stay classy!
I know I'm actually grown up now because I have a new found love for Clarks shoes, Marks & Spencer and Saturday nights in. Oh, and I get excited by the Tupperware section in department stores. Good god, I feel old.
Outfit: tan shoes - Matalan, tartan scarf - Marks & Spencer, jeans and chunky cardigan - Jack Wills
As I was digging through my old clothes, I discovered a few items I'd forgotten about. Two very different styles, but I fell in love all over again. One being a baby pink PVC number and the other being a super cute tartan skater dress.
Pink PVC I hear you cry? I know. I am not Katy Perry but I will give it a go none the less. Pass the blue wig. And the mulled wine.
PVC skirt & cropped jumper: Missguided. Red court shoes: Matalan.
Tartan dress: Boohoo. Shirt: Missguided. Necklace: Accessorize. Socks & heels: ASOS
